“Sure it’s hot,” said Keenan Bishop, standing just inside the shadow of the barn that was used as a distillery at Thursday’s Farm-City Field Day. “It kinda helps people appreciate what farmers, construction workers and others who work outside have to deal with all summer.”

In many ways, “appreciation” is what the Field Day is about: appreciating and understanding those who work the land to provide food and fiber ­– and in the case of this Field Day – libation.

Farm-City Field Day included educational farm tours, a steak lunch, booths, displays and more this year.

With all the battles that rage across the LEGO landscape, it is a wonder that it has not spilled into the surrounding villages sooner. Recently, LEGO has remedied this oversight with Medieval Market and Blacksmith Attack. Now they take it one step further with the Mill Village Raid.

This, of course, is not the first time peasants have entered the LEGO Castle world. Older series, on occasion, did feature the common folk. The difference here is that they are given a much more prominent role in the sets. This is to the delight of every LEGO Castle fan, both young and old.
