Gardening just got greener.
The Region has diverted about 1.5 tons of plastic flower pots and trays from the landfill through a recycling pilot project launched new early this summer.
Plastic pots and trays are currently not accepted into the program of the Region Blue Box, as plastic is difficult to treat with other acceptable materials, but they can be recycled if they are collected separately and off without charge, the Halton Waste Management site on Regional Road 25.
Flower pots and containers must be separated by the number of plastic identification (2, 5, 6) contained inside the recycling triangle on the bottom of the pot or tray. Separate containers can be placed in the appropriate containers to the landfill in the region. All pots and pans collected during this pilot program will be recycled in Ontario and turned into new plastic products.

Excellent work seat for working in the yard/garden : April 12, 2009
I was looking for a utility seat that rolls in the garden. I bought this specifically for my father who cannot walk.
This seat weighs about 15 lbs (by feel) and has pneumatic tires and glossy ‘John Deer Green’ paint. The seat swivels and can be adjusted for height. A small carrying tray can carry up to 5 lbs. This is a solid work seat unlike the plastic ‘utility carts’ than have small plastic wheels which are difficult to pull. You have to pump up the tires with a conventional pump. This has Schrader valves.
...I plan to buy flowers for my garden that are already cultivated (I can not germinate in the life of me: (). Would it be beneficial to take these plants out of the plastic trays, they arrive and transfer to peat pots and then plant them in my garden?
I agree, the transfer of seedlings pots plastic tray in a peat pot is a waste of money and actually delays its growth. I tried container gardening, but the results are disappointing with a low yield. Your money is better spent on the purchase of low-cost soil amendment to mix in the topsoil.

Seems pretty clear that the "SHINLY Plastics Corporation" produces plastic products. As you can even get "plastic" cake moulds for baking in these days - which are obviously not thermoplastic, this is not surprising.
