“A backpack is handy for landscape spraying and getting down through the vegetation to your target—whether it is a weed or a pest—however, a mounted or trailered boom sprayer may be best for controlling weed or insect pests in a field or pasture

Now, before it freezes, clean up ground sprayer

This weed acts both as a winter annual and a spring annual, thrives in no-till fields and CRP, and is exceedingly difficult to control. Area producers have likened it to a dandelion on steroids. " "In Teton County: Harvest is over for the most part.

Neil Sperry: Dollar weed survives weedkiller

08.07.11

Q: I have dollar weeds in my yard (low growth and shape of a silver dollar). I tried spraying with an herbicide labeled for him, but he was not good. Where can I contact?

A: You used the right product. The problem in the treatment of weeds in the dollar comes from both the shape and the leaf surface. They act as funnels to guide spray on the leaves, and the sheet of glossy paper speed along the surfaces.

Include a drop of liquid dishwashing detergent with each gallon of spray and apply with a pump sprayer that allows you to broadcast a very fine mist that covers the leaves.

Weed Sprayers - Herbicides are Tough - Spray Equipment Blog

by Andrew Greess

Weed control sprayers are the lifeblood of a weed control company.  Proper care and attention are necessary to ensure proper operation, productivity and minimal downtime.  Most companies do a pretty good job maintaining the key components of the system.

The little parts don't get as much attention, but they also matter.  Here is a photo of what herbicides can do to power sprayer fittings.  The chemical was so corrosive that it literally ate away the steel in this fitting - it looks like a slinky.  Obviously the fitting leaked like crazy.  The same fitting in new condition, is shown on the right side. Small things like this can cost your company money.
