The Fiskars pruning stik is a lightweight, multipurpose pruning tool with the ability to trim tree branches up to 12-feet tall without needing a ladder. The pruning stik features Fiskars' PowerStroke sliding-grip cutting action that lets you prune by simply sliding the plastic grip (or pulling the orange ball end), which engages a chain and spring that snaps the blades closed. In addition, the cutting head rotates 240 degrees to give the user the best pruning angle. The replaceable Xylan-coated blade is ultra-hardened to stay sharp all-season long, and it offers a cutting capacity of 1-1/4 inches. Weighing less than 2 pounds, the aluminum handles are durable and light, and their length allows you to reach high branches, and remove growth at ground level while standing. The pruning tool comes with a limited lifetime warranty.

About Trees: Keep your old trees thriving in summer heat
16.10.45
As we move into the summer and the heat and the potential drought that can come with it, I have had more than a few questions from property and tree owners that all sound much the same: What can I do to ensure that my old trees will not only survive but do well through what may be another severe summer?
Lately, I have seen increased occurrence of stress indicators in older trees, especially oaks, that seem nonspecific in cause.
However, there is good reason to believe that much of this trouble is the result of heavy and frequent spring rains that saturated clay soils, followed by a period of drought. This one-two punch from Mother Nature has damaged some tree systems in their ability to take up critical water and metabolize important elements for normal function.
