It was a day of discovery Saturday at the Bolingbrook Park District’s Hidden Oaks Nature Center.
Park district staff discovered an event that could become a linchpin in the district’s menu of future annual offerings. Hundreds of people discovered the Hidden Oaks Nature Center and James Boan Woods, and some visitors discovered what it feels like to have a python draped around their neck.
According to park district officials, more than 200 people visited the Summer Solstice Celebration, the district’s second attempt at an outreach event to celebrate the first day of summer. Last year, the inaugural event brought out about 150 attendees.
